There are two ways that you can be involved in research, either by becoming a member of our PPI panel or participating in the studies themselves.
Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) is a way of involving public and patients in research. This is separate from being a participant on a research study.
PPI Panel
Addenbrooke's currently has a panel of 38 people from all backgrounds and all ages, who review research studies at the development stage and provide feedback to researchers.
Panel members review approximately 3 to 4 studies a year and documents are submitted via e-mail or post, so there are no travel costs and time is kept to a minimum.
If you are interested in joining our panel, please contact Joann Leeding at joann.leeding@addenbrookes.nhs.uk
Participating in Research
If you are interested in participating in research there are a number of ways you can get involved.
Companies who develop new medications have a panel of volunteers that they can call upon when new research is being developed. GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Parexel have such panels and can be contacted via their websites

You can also participate in research for non-medication trials such as those involving MRI/fMRI (scanning) or experimental psychology research

The Trust is always looking to increase its patient recruitment for research so if you are interested in any studies relating to an illness or ailment affecting you, do talk to your GP or treating clinician at the hospital.
Bioresource
You can also become a member of the Bioresource. Further details can be found at http://www.cambridgebioresource.org.uk/
Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility
The Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is undertaking ongoing research, collecting reference physiological measurements in healthy volunteers. For details either email crf-volunteer@medschl.cam.ac.uk or call 01223 596077
